Shirlee D. Klawon, 75, of 860 N. Main St., Jamestown passed away at 9:10 p.m. Friday (December 25, 2009) in WCA Hospital with her children at her side.
She was born December 17, 1934 in Ellington, NY the daughter of the late Ernest Furlow and Virginia Chipman Swanson.
Shirlee received her GED from Jamestown High School in 1975 and graduated from JCC with an associates degree in applied sciences.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting , plastic canvas, music, watching professional wrestling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Shirlee had trained for the ministry in Florida for Science of the Mind. In years prior to retirement she had worked as a switchboard operator and as a crisis couselor.
Surviving are two daughters; Dawn (Jim) Russell of Ellington, Doreen (Bill) Swanson of Jamestown, a son Robert Klawon of Jamestown, 11 grandchildren; Shaun Russell, Erin Winters, Billy Swanson, Christopher Swanson, Corinne Pryll, Jessica Franklin Schmeltz, Jennifer Jimmerson, Kristie Klawon, Heather Clark, Quinton Klawon, Austin Klawon, 22 great grandchildren, 5 sisters; Sandra Lohnes of Lanse, PA, Barbara Brooks of Sugar Grove, Martha Sampson of Warren, Mary Rollinger of Lakewood and Anne Abadie of Philadelphia, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin A. Klawon whom she married August 2, 1953 in Watts Flats, NY, who died April 27, 1972, a son Jon Klawon who died January 7, 1986, 3 brothers; Stan Furlow, Bruce and Ray Wells, and a sister E. Susan Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2009 in the Falconer Funeral Home.
Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the memorial service Saturday.
