James F. Grodecki, 65, formerly of 119 Kane Ave. Falconer, passed away Saturday (January 23, 2010) in the Heritage Green Health Care Center
A lifelong area resident, he was born February 17, 1944 in Jamestown the son of the late Sylvester and Florence Roche Grodecki.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of Falconer High School, received his Associates Degree from Jamestown Community College and had attended Fredonia State Teachers College. Prior to retirement due to ill health he was employed by the Chautauqua County Highway Department.
He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer, Boy Scouts of America having served as Unit Commissioner, Jamestown Municipal Band and had served on the local M.S. Society of Chautauqua County.
Surviving is his wife Diane C. Strong Grodecki whom he married September 26, 1970 in Scared Heart Catholic Church, a son Adam J. (Cynthia) Grodecki of Jamestown, two granddaughters; Katelyn and Kimberly Grodecki.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister JoAnne Marie Grodecki in 1962.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Janaczek pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Church will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt Olivet Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Altar and Rosary Service at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Boy Scouts Of America, 50 Hough Hill Road, Falconer, NY 14733, the Chautauqua Region Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 714, Jamestown, NY 1402-0714 or to a charity of ones choice.
