Roger J. Broadhead, 72, of 211 E. Elmwood Ave., Falconer, passed away at 10:18 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born May 2, 1937 in Jamestown the son of the late Stanley and Marie White Broadhead.
He was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School, attended Jamestown Business College, and had served in the Naval Reserves. He had been employed for 21 years by the Jamestown Public School System as a custodian at the Lincoln Middle and Elementary Schools retiring in 1999.
Roger was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society and the church choir; Ingjald Lodge #65, I.O. V., Vikings Mixed Chorus, Falconer Senior Citizens, and the Super Travelers Club. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the outdoors and attending casinos.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Margaret Rehnstedt Broadhead whom he married October 1, 1966 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Randolph; a son, Daniel Alan Broadhead of Randolph; a daughter, Wendy Sue (Philip) Mistretta of Buffalo; two grandchildren Thomas and Angelina Mistretta of Buffalo, a step grandson Timothy Mistretta of Illinois; a sister, Joan See of Warren, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Janaczek pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church will be celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and the Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 3:40 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
