Charles A. Barone, 76, a beloved and kindhearted father, of Ross Mills, New York peacefully passed over on February 13, 2010, with his two loving children at his side.
A native of Jamestown, he was born on May 26, 1933. He was a graduate of the Manlius School, which was then considered one of the top military prep schools in the United States. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1950, where he was a proud member of the Braw Caddie Clan. He attended St Bonaventure University and Miami University, where he was a member of the Lamba Chi Alpha fraternity. Following his graduation from Miami University in 1956, he returned to Jamestown where he followed his entrepreneurial spirit in broad assortment of business endeavors, including real estate development and manufacturing. Through years of voluminous reading he acquired an uncommonly expansive vocabulary, which he used sparingly, as he often conveyed the essence of his thoughts with just one or two particularly fitting words. Charles was an avid yachtsman, who enjoyed boating on Chautauqua Lake. Although his business successes were many, he will be most remembered for his endless sense of humor, gracious disposition, consummate good style, and selfless empathy for others.
He is survived by his two beloved children, Dr. Blair Barone, of Boca Raton, Fl., and Gardiner S. Barone, Esq., of Middletown, NY, both of whom Charles was particularly proud of; a devoted wife, Catherine Shearman Barone, and their three grandchildren, Sophronia Neff Barone, Baron Rami Shearman Karpuska, and Sydney Mossman Barone. Charles was preceded by his father, Nathaniel LaDuca Barone, M.D., his mother, Lena Spera Barone, and his brother Anthony Barone, M.D.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Charles' memory to Hospice of Chautauqua County, or to the WCA Hospital, 2010 Campaign Wish List, Unit 3B, in recognition of their overflowing compassion for Charles, his family and all others they care for.
