Violet J. Ball, 90, formerly of 12 Flagg Ave., Jamestown and the Frewsburg Rest Home passed away Friday (July 2, 2010) in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
She was the widow of Robert A. Ball whom she married August 1, 1939 in Warren, Pa., who died August 8, 1992.
A lifelong area resident, she was born March 1, 1920 in Jamestown the daughter of Clifford and Martha Waff Vincent.
She attended Jamestown schools and in earlier years had been employed at the former National Worsted Mills, then Bigelow's Department Store as a buyer and later at Nelson's Café in Celoron.
She was a 56 year member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge 87, where she had served as Senior Regent, member of the Friendship and College Regent. Violet was also a member of the Buffalo Street United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed children and was very close to her grandnieces and grandnephews: Nicole Carson, Michael Marsh, James Vincent, Tessa Vincent, Ashley Marsh, Kevin Vincent and Kyle Peterson and sadly missed her nephew Douglas Vincent. She was Aunt Vi to all, including Joseph, Carolyn, Lloyd, Patricia and Cindy.
Surviving is her brother James C. (Beverly) Vincent of Hidden Valley, Frewsburg and Dade City Florida, her nephew Randy (Sharon) Vincent, three nieces Betsy Carson (John Wunder) and Natalie (Tom) Marsh, Laura Vincent, several grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a nephew Douglas Vincent who died February 9, 2005.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. William C. Pettibon will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and for one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday.
