Elizabeth B. "Betty" McChesney, 80, formerly of 3607 Falconer Kimball Stand Rd., Falconer went home to be with her heavenly father and loved ones who had gone home before on Monday (July 5, 2010) in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
A lifelong area resident she was born January 8, 1930 in Celoron, NY to the late Hiram E. and Ethel E. Pratt.
Betty was a member of the Garfield Road Christian Fellowship. She had been on the board of trustees for many years, and had been the treasurer of the church since 1983.
She had been employed as a nurse from 1947 to 1995. Betty had worked for three doctors, at WCA Hospital, Jamestown General Hospital and Heritage Village Nursing Home. She had cared for her husband at home who was a total care Alzheimer patient for 16 years.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and a dear close friend Merle Beardsley. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, ceramics and traveling. During her lifetime she had traveled to all 50 states an accomplishment she was proud of.
Betty is survived by two daughters: Zoanne D. (Richard) Shields of Sinclairville, Mary S. (Daniel) Seastrum of Bemus Point; a step son James R. (Debbie) McChesney of Waynesboro, GA, a step daughter Gail E. (Wally) Machemer of Ft. Myers, FL; six grandchildren: Jennifer R. (Terry Jr.) Rearick of Sinclairville, Janel E. (Kevin) Gleason of New Port Richey, FL, Richard M. Shields of Sinclairville, Amy J. (Jeff) Berg of Jamestown, Wendy L. Seastrum of Bemus Point, Daniel C. (Beth) Seastrum of Jamestown; a step grandson Scott McChesney of Chattanooga, TN, a step granddaughter Melissa McChesney of Grovetown, GA; ten great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; two sisters: Jane L. Minton of Jamestown, Elsie G. Lee of Brocton and her former husband Ken Depledge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willis S. McChesney whom she married June 5, 1971, who died March 5, 1996, a stepgrandson Jeffrey R. McChesney, a brother Morris E. Pratt and two sisters Marian R. French and Susan A. Gray.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Ogden S. McClimans Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
