Deborah J. Nelson, 60, of 3039 Riverside Rd., Jamestown, passed away Tuesday (January 17, 2012) in WCA Hospital with her husband by her side.
A lifelong area resident she was born November 24, 1951 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Roger and Jeanne Anderson Hanstrom.
Deborah was a graduate of Southwestern High School and was currently employed by Jamestown Container.
She was a member of the 72nd NY Volunteer Infantry North South Skirmish Association, HAM Radio N2MQ Call Sign, Lakewood Rod &Gun Club, Southern Tier Classic Chevy Club and Antique Automobile Club. Deborah enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially doing crafts with them. She also was an avid bowler, NASCAR Fan and enjoyed cruises and riverboat cruises. In earlier years she enjoyed fishing in Canada on Crow Lake.
Surviving are her husband Gerald W. "Jerry" Nelson whom she married July 6, 1974 in Busti, NY, a daughter Melissa Klenke and her husband Charlie who was Deborah's favorite son-in-law of Busti, two step sons: Steven (Tina) Nelson of Scranton, PA, Gerald R. (Jennifer) Nelson of Hampton, CT, her daughter-in-law Teena Nelson; six grandchildren: Nicholas Klenke, Taylor Nelson, Noah Nelson, Daniel Nelson, Matthew Nelson and Megan Nelson; her extended family Brandy (Chris) Oakes, Brandon Klenke, Peyton Oakes and Marissa Oakes.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son: William R. Nelson.
The funeral will be at 11a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Parsons and Rev. Dan Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14701.
