William L. Fehlman I, 81, of Falconer passed on peacefully on Friday (January 20, 2012) surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 20, 1930 in Erie, PA the son of Vorena Ornce.
On September 11, 1946 he enlisted in the Army Air Force and was stationed at Yokata Army Air Base, Japan.
He graduated from Falconer High School in 1951 and earned an Associate Degree in Science in 1975 from JCC.
He went on to work at Floral Arts Plastic Company in Jamestown and as a general contractor in Western New York area.
William was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included arrowhead hunting and various arts and craft projects. He also was an avid reader on many topics. He had an immense love of animals and cared deeply for his many dogs and cats. William was a kind, caring very loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a great concern for all and he believed, "One must have the ability to understand and appreciate imaginative creations of nature and others."
Surviving are his wife Clarabelle M. Vandenburg Fehlman whom he married June 30, 1956 in Jamestown, three children: Kathleen Cooley (Vern Wilson) of Falconer, Judith (Pat) Bull of Falconer, William L. (Valerie) Fehlman II of Williamsburg, VA; ten grandchildren: Colleen Clark, Dana Clark, Matthew Clark, Katie Cooley, Krista Cooley, Tara VandeVelde, Amber Seekings, Brittney Bull, Blaire Fehlman and Caroline Fehlman and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his mother Vorena Ornce, his step father Fred Ornce and his brother Lee Fehlman I.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. Rev. Cathy Smith Chaplain of Hospice will officiate.
Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
