Betty M. Lawson

Betty M. Lawson, 87, of Falconer, NY, passed away on Saturday (June 10, 2017) in the Lutheran Home in Jamestown, NY.

A lifelong area resident she was born June 30, 1929 in Falconer, the daughter of the late Vernon E. and Gladys Baldridge McCullor.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Falconer High School. In earlier years she was employed by the Girls Club where she taught sewing and at Sears Roebuck where she worked in the tailor shop. Prior to retirement in 1989 she was employed by Charles M. Smith Insurance in Falconer.

Betty was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer, where she belonged to the Women's Guild. She volunteered at, and was in charge of the Food Cupboard at BLC for several years. She also volunteered at the Falconer Public Library, shelving children's books. For many years, she was on the Beautification Committee for the Village of Falconer. Betty valued her membership and the friends she made at the Thule Lodge. Betty loved camping and traveling (to all 50 states) and spending family time at Homestead Park. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and doing crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her daughter, Pamala (Jerrold) Ireland of Panama; her son, Randall Lawson (Nancy Whitmore) of Jamestown; her grandchildren: Erica Ireland (David Dix) of Jamestown, James (Katie) Ireland of Grand Island, Jessica (Joel) Keefer of Jamestown, Gregory Ireland of Panama, Laurel (Don) Dalrymple of Del Rio, TX and Sarah (David) Heald of Clarksburg, TN; great grandchildren include: Mel and Cameryn Eggleston, Chase Hartnett, Corinne Ireland, Aiden and Maggie Jo Keefer, Dakota Kuczenski, Sutton Dalrymple, Dayton and Slade Downey and Sorin Heald; her sister-in-law Maxine (Lawson) McCullor and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore V. Lawson whom she married May 21, 1949 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer, who died February 1, 1995; her brother Maynard "Mac" McCullor on May 9, 2017 and her daughter-in-law, Michele (Gould) Murray.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Falconer Public Library or the Falconer Fire Department Rescue Squad.
