Michael E. Badgley, Jr., 66, of Kennedy passed away unexpectedly Sunday (June 11, 2017) in UPMC Chautauqua/ WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born December 4, 1950 in Jamestown, the son of the late Michael E. and Lois M. Jones Badgley Sr.
Mike attended Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S Army from 1970 to 1972. Prior to retirement in 2013 he was employed by Hartley, Buick Auto Dealership in Jamestown.
He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association in Jamestown. He enjoyed auto racing, having constructed and help construct several race cars. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Betty J. Merchant Badgley whom he married July 19, 1975 in the Town of Ellicott; his children: Michelle (Scott) Levin of Falconer, Jennifer (Brian) Brentley of Jamestown, Jessica (Rodger) Burroughs of Florida, Michael (Liz) Badgley of Frewsburg, Hope Badgley and Thomas Badgley both of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren: Sarah, Samantha, Kristina Levin, Hannah, Connor, Caitlyn, Cara and Camden Brentley, Christopher, Nicholas, Alexis and Rochelle Badgley; a great granddaughter: Aidah Badgley; a sister Jacqueline (Maynard) Carlson of Jamestown and a brother Jeffrey M. (Sue) Badgley of Jamestown.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a step sister Anna Anderson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. George Tanti will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral service Friday in the funeral home.
