Doris K. Sweatman, 98, formerly of Kennedy and the High Rise, Jamestown passed away Thursday (August 3, 2017) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry.
She was born May 1, 1919 in Town of Portland, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Bacon Kunkel.
In earlier years Doris was employed by Welch Grape Company in Westfield and later by Frewsburg Central School.
Doris was a member of the Jamestown Free Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and Knit Picker Kraft Klass at the High Rise.
Surviving are eight children: Laura Holt of Russell, PA, Arthur (Bonnie) Sweatman of Ellery Center, Ruth Anne (Daniel) Doupe of Leesburg, FL, Doris Hunter of Russell, PA, Georgia John of Buckley, Washington, Walter "Bill" (Rhonda) Sweatman, Jr. of Bonney Lake, Washington, Cindy (Tim) Atkins of Jamestown, David (Stanche) Sweatman of Jamestown; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter W. Sweatman whom she married September 23, 1939, who died November 27, 1977; a daughter Karen Downs, a granddaughter Brianna Whetstone and three brothers: Karl, Eugene and Kenneth Kunkel.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Marcus Briggs will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners, Town of Poland, NY.
Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
