Donald V. Erickson

Dr. Donald V. Erickson, 70, of Jamestown, NY went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in his home with his wife. He fought a courageous battle against cancer with dignity and kindness to everyone. His wonderful gift of humor encouraged everyone around him as we watched him lose his earthly life to enter into the most amazing life of being in heaven with his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.

Donald V. Erickson was born in Jamestown, NY on December 12, 1946, the son of Robert V. Erickson and Ruth Nord Erickson. He married his wife, Helen on September 4, 1971. He was a resident of the Jamestown area the major of his life. He also resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Springfield, MO.

Donald was a proud graduate of Falconer High School, class of 1965. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo in 1982 and his Masters and Doctor of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary in Camilla, GA. He also attended Jamestown Community College. He received the 2010 Rev. Roy Magnuson Award for his distinguished service in the ministry. He served his beloved country in the U.S. Navy as a jet engine mechanic from 1965 to 1969 in Key West, FL. He was previously employed by S. M. Flickengers, Jamestown Lounge, Vac Air Alloys, several area furniture factories, and as a security guard.

In February 1978, an amazing event happened in the life of Don Erickson. Pastor and Carol Triplett visited he and his wife, Helen in their home. The Tripletts shared the Gospel message and explained that God had a wonderful plan how a person could obtain salvation and have an eternal life in heaven. Don felt that God would not want him because of his lifestyle. He was shown in the Word of God that "all have sinned". His heart opened when they shared the following verse of Scripture, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow." God told Don to come and he would take care of the rest. And he obeyed.

Donald Erickson became a new man in Christ. He graduated from Bible College and eventually started Lighthouse Baptist Church in Jamestown. He always felt God gave him the most wonderful people on earth to shepherd. He continued his education because of his love of the Bible. His heart's desire of having a radio station was given to him in 2004. He had a program at 11:00 am sharing the Gospel and his views on the climate of the country. He was blessed with the equipment and services of FBN satellite Christian radio. He authored two books, "The Narrow Way" and "Will the Witness Please Take the Stand".

These are a few of his favorite things. He loved to tell others about the Lord. He enjoyed animals, wild and tame. He liked to sit on his porch, observing and feeding God's wonderful creatures around his home. His chihuahua, Ricky was his constant companion. He played many instruments and listened to several genres of music. He had a great appreciation for art. Pastoring was the joy of his life.

He loved his family. Donald Erickson was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Erickson, father, Robert Erickson, his step-mother, Rose Erickson, and his brother, Gary Erickson. All who greeted him as he entered heaven's gates. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Domenico Erickson and his son, Andrew V. Erickson of Jamestown. His siblings were his brother, Roger (Sylvia) Erickson of Falconer, his step-sisters Connie Dahlin, Mary (Leroy) Nash, Peggy (Larry) Straight, Judy Kidder, and a step-brother George (Clarice) Lee; in-laws: Jane (David) Laurito, John (Patty) Morris, Joan (Kevin) Watrous, Rosemary (Donald) Nadeau.
