Mary Katherine Kimball "Marikay", 95, of Falconer passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in her home.
She was born September 11, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Chester N. and Clara E. Rost Hauffe.
Marikay attended high school in Columbus Ohio and studied at Ohio State University. She married Stanley B. Kimball on November 25, 1942 shortly before Stanley enlisted. Family obligations made it impossible for Marikay to finish her studies at that time, but finally on May 13, 2015 she received her associate degree in Journalism from Ohio State.
Marikay was a member of the Kennedy United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Ross Grange, Falconer PTA and a 4-H volunteer. She was a dedicated homemaker and farm wife for Kimvale Farm in Falconer and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marikay and Stanley traveled to 17 countries including, China, Russia and many European countries. Her favorite destination was her trip to Florence, Italy. She always kept up with the news, both national and international. She loved completing the daily cross word puzzle in the newspaper and did so up until the day before her death.
Surviving are four children: Marilynne Northrop of Westfield, Stephen (Cathleen) Kimball of Falconer, Susan (John) Abers of Kennedy, Patricia (Gary) Hellner of Falconer; fifteen grandchildren: Daniel (Amy) Northrop of Dallas, TX, Sharon (Aaron) Bachman of East Aurora, Wayne Northrop of Portland, OR, William Northrop of Westfield, Jeannine (Davis) Cutting of Ithaca, Anessa Kimball of Quebec City, Canada, Adam (Amanda) Abers of Kennedy, Ashley (Daniel) Byrne of Chesapeake, VA, Arrin Abers of New Jersey, Jonathan and Andrew Young of Kennedy, Ross (Emily) Kimball of Pittsburgh, PA, Jacob Kimball of Brooklyn, NY, Colleen Kimball of Ithaca, Connor (Sydney) Hellner of Burbank, CA and fourteen great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley B. Kimball, who died June 30, 2006, her son-in-law, David Northrop and her great granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Byrne.
Special thanks are extended to Hospice, Kim Roberts, Adam and especially Amanda for her constant compassion and care that enabled Marikay live out her final days in her home, surrounded by loving family and friends.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Kennedy United Methodist Church. Rev. Jennifer Delahoy pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
