Obituary of Robin Ormond
Robin C. "Robie" Ormond, 89, formerly of Kennedy, Bradenton, FL and the High Rise in Jamestown passed away Wednesday (September 6, 2017) in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
He was born October 31, 1927 in Greenwood, Wisconsin, the son of the late Charles and Julia Boe Ormond.
Robin attended Randolph High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. While serving in the navy he was a meat cutter in the commissary and was an avid boxer having placed second in the eastern region.
In earlier years he was employed by the Chautauqua County Highway Dept. for 11 ½ years. He operated the Chautauqua Lake Ferry from 1949-56. Robin had also owned and operated the B & R Restaurant in Kennedy for almost 20 years, the Twilight Lanes in Randolph and The R Place in Ellington. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Lazy Gates Farms in Randolph.
He was a member of the Randolph Post 181, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Randolph Moose Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his passion was fishing. Robin also enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, FL for 40 years.
He is survived by four children: Denny (Colleen) Ormond of Dayton, NV, Brenda (Michael) Bunce of Kennedy, Terry Nunez of Fairview, PA, Dawn (Tom) Constantine of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Michelle (Rich) Boedecker, Sean (Kerri) Ormond, Tracy (Chris) Schrader, Janelle (Jordan) Bunce, Nathaniel (Jessica) Nunez, Christopher Nunez (Erin Dalton), Cassandra (Charles III) DeMarco, Jordan Bunce (Rachel Mace); fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers Thomas Ormond and Neil Ormond both of Kennedy; his sister-in-law Jean Ormond of Randolph.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Anne M. Funcell Ormond; three grandchildren: Jennifer Anne Bunce, Kimberly Ormond, Daniel Nunez; a son-in-law Ramon Nunez; a sister Donna Cross and a brother Grant Ormond.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Jennifer Delahoy pastor of Kennedy United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
