Wednesday, November 22, 2017Some of my fondest memories are of playing Pinochle with Larry vs Chuck & Marie. Chuck and I would run the bids so high that both teams would be deep in the negative (which would make Larry crazy), and the games would go until the wee hours of the morning. One Christmas Eve while we were playing, Max (Chuck's dog) was under the table just playing away ... he had gotten under the Christmas tree and carefully snuck out one of his gifts, a ball with a bell inside. We realized what he had done, so the ball was put up on top of the refrigerator, and we went back to the game. A short time later, Max again was playing happily under the table .. with another one of his gifts. Our first Christmas tree was so large (He wanted a BIG one!) that we had to cut a foot off the top and another foot off the bottom to get it upright in our apartment. It was so unwieldy that he put eye-hooks in the walls and wires to the trunk to keep it upright. I have a picture of that somewhere - it looks like Jabba The Hut! It was hideous, and wonderful and ours. He let me pick out the tree after that. My most sincere condolences go out to Chuck & Bob and the rest of the family.
