Violet N. (Abers) Engstrom, 100, formerly of Ross Mills Rd., Falconer passed away Monday (January 6, 2020) in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born January 8, 1919 in Busti, the daughter of the late Garrett and Nellie Carley Abers. Violet attended schools in Busti and in earlier years was employed by American Manufacturing, Weber Knapp Company and Swanson’s Machine. Prior to retirement in 1979 she was employed by Truck-Lite. She was a member of Jamestown Senior Citizens Super Travelers and Coachman Travel Club. Violet along with her late husband Allen enjoyed traveling to every state in the continental U.S. They also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Prince Edward Island and numerous provinces in Canada. One of Violets favorite trips was visiting the state of California where she met Roy Rogers and Lawrence Welk. Violet was also a member of the Ross Grange and Busti Golden Agers. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen F. Engstrom whom she married September 8, 1940, who died March 23, 2010; three brothers: Robert, Albert and Jack Abers; seven sisters: Claribel Magnuson, Irene Waite, Virginia Johnson, Dorothy Bentley, Stella Johnson, Florence Hebner and Julia Hudson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Petry chaplain of Heritage Group will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Falconer Volunteer Fire Dept. or Gerry Volunteer Fire Department.
