Stanley S. Burkett, 87, of Falconer went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (January 28, 2020) in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident he was born August 21, 1932 in Jamestown, the son of the late L. Schuyler and Helen Dillingham Burkett. Stanley graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School in 1950 and Baptist Bible Seminary in 1959. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees serving during the Korean Conflict in the Philippines from 1952 to 1953. During his enlistment he helped build an air strip in Subic Bay, Philippines. In earlier years Stanley was employed by Pennsylvania Gas Co., M&O Metal, Vac Air Alloy’s, and prior to retirement in 1994 was employed at Unico Alloy’s. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Randolph and had been a lay minister in the Baptist Church for many years. Stanley had also served as Deacon and in the music ministry. Surviving are his wife Geraldine R. Larson Burkett whom he married December 15, 1951 in Jamestown; a daughter Cindy (Phil) Ribaudo of Falconer; five sons: Dan (Mary) Burkett of Highland Ranch, CO, David (Darlene) Burkett of East Norriton, PA, Thomas (Ruth) Burkett of Frewsburg, Timothy (Julie) Burkett of Frewsburg, Stephen (Laurie) Burkett of Pacific City, OR; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother Robert (Sonya) Burkett of Jamestown and a sister Pamela Westley of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters Gloria Joy Burkett in 1961 and Robin Burkett Scott in 2017; and a great granddaughter Bryce Joelle Burkett in 2016. The Burkett family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Park for the care Stanley received. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Robbins of First Baptist Church of Falconer will officiate. Burial will be in Gerry Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
