Caryl J. Pickup, 77, of Ellington passed away Wednesday (January 29, 2020) in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident she was born January 15, 1943 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Alfred and June Ericson Carlstrom. Caryl was a graduate of Southwestern High School and in earlier years was employed by Jamestown Stamp Company, owned and operated Calico Corners in Ellington and Falconer Central School. Prior to retirement she was employed by WCA Hospital. Caryl was charter member of the Ellington Fire Department Auxiliary; a member of the Ellington Town Picnic Association serving as Past President, Ellington Community Food Pantry and Ellington Historical Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Chloe; sewing and making clothing, and traveling. Surviving are two sons: Scott (Dianna) Pickup of Louisville, KY, Mathew Pickup of Ellington; two grandchildren: Morgan Pickup, Myles Pickup; two sisters: Cheralee (Steve) Rater of Eatonton, GA, Cimberlee Blake of Eatonton, GA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Philip E. Pickup whom she married July 6, 1963 who died February 5, 2005; a sister Cynthia Keithley. Her memorial service will be Saturday at 6:00 pm in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev Donald Moore officiate. Friends will be received by the family from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
