Carol S. Phillips, 80, of Jamestown passed away unexpectedly Thursday (December 31, 2020) in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born September 19, 1940 in Jamestown. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Evelyn Hirst Vincent. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement she worked at the James Prendergast Library, most of the time in the Children’s Room. Carol was “The Story Time Lady” for generations of Jamestown children. After her retirement, she loved to run into her story time kids and families in the community. Carol loved to sew and work on craft projects. She sold her creations in many local craft shows. She was an accomplished quilter and was a member of the Randolph Circle of Quilters and Chautauqua Area Regional Quilt Guild. She enjoyed attending weekend quilting retreats several times a year and had many good friendships within the quilting community. Carol was happiest spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed long car rides with her husband, shopping with her daughters, playing Bunco with friends and having breakfast at Phil-N-Cindy’s Lunch. She looked forward to family reunions on Memorial Day with her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Surviving is her husband, Alton J. Phillips whom she married in 1963 in Jamestown; two daughters, Leslie Phillips (Shawn Watson) of Brookville, PA; Shelly Phillips of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Abigail Henry, Maddox Henry, Ty Henry; a sister Diane (James) Glenn of Jamestown, and two lifelong friends, Priscilla Hutley of Arizona and Lea Etta Phillips Haight of Pittsfield, PA. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family respectfully asks that guests wear face masks and social distancing practices be observed.
