Anthony C. “Tote” Russo, 79, of Gerry, NY passed away Sunday (March 21, 2021) in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident he was born April 22, 1941 in Jamestown, the son of the late John and Christine Russo. Tote was a graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to retirement in 1996 he was employed for 36 years as a Lieutenant by the Jamestown Fire Department. He was a member of the Jamestown Morton Club. Tote loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR and Buffalo Bills fan. Tote enjoyed fishing and restoring classic cars. Surviving are his wife Alice Anderson Russo; three daughters: Renee (Steve) Tompsett of Falconer, Catherine (David) Rizzo, Toni (Dan) Gage all of Jamestown; a son Nicholas (Nancy) Russo of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren: Gregory (Lisa) Tompsett, Stephanie (Brett) Rhinehart, Michael (KerriAnn) Rizzo, Shaun (Jenna) Rizzo, Ashley (Justin) Freeborough, Nicholas (Jenn) Lind, Jacob Gage, Sara Lind, Daniel Gage, John Russo, Alyssa Russo (Kyle), Jordan Russo; 8 great grandchildren and a brother Matthew Russo. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Sabatini Russo; two sisters: Carmelita Paladino, Josephine Fusco-Hilyer and his extended family Mike and Doris Mangine. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Due to CDC and NYS Covid 19 regulations face masks will be required and social distancing observed for all services. Memorial contributions may be donated to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750 or to a charity of one’s choice.
