Obituary of Ronnie Mead
Ronnie J. Mead, 74, of Kennedy passed away Friday (December 1, 2017) at his home.
An area resident most of his life he was born December 1, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Gladys I. Mead Ralph.
He attended Jamestown High School and Falconer High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 82nd Airborne from 1961 to 1964. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1967.
Ronnie was employed by First National Bank and purchased the Cross's Red & White Supermarket in 1972. Along with his wife Bonnie they owned and operated Kennedy Supermarket from 1972 to 1991. After retirement in 1991 he ventured in real-estate and homebuilding in Waynesville, NC for 8 years.
He was a life member of the Kennedy Fire Department and member of the Randolph Post 181, American Legion. Ronnie enjoyed his family and grandchildren; hunting, fishing, cooking and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Some other hobbies Ronnie enjoyed was beekeeping and horse racing. He had co-owned a horse with his good friend the late Dave Frederes.
Surviving are his wife Bonnie S. Rissel Mead whom he married January 16, 1965 in Kennedy; two sons: Timothy (Sandra) Mead of Jamestown, Dr. Thomas (Dr. Jhansi) Mead of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren: Gavin, Alex, Julia, Anjali and Arun Mead and a sister Carol (Gordon) Waine of McCormick, SC.
He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys I. Ralph; his step father Julius E. Ralph and a sister Jeanette Gustafson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Inurnment will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners.
Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
