Obituary of George F. Hausenbauer

George F. Hausenbauer, 92, of Jamestown, formerly of Dunkirk passed away Monday (January 15, 2018) in UPMC Chautauqua/ WCA Hospital.

He was born August 20, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late George A. and Frances Walsh Hausenbauer.

George was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School. He also graduated from Pratt Institute of Technology and University at Buffalo with a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the 75th Infantry from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theatre.

He was previously employed by ALCO Products in Dunkirk and prior to retirement was employed by Struthers Wells Corporation retiring in 1987.

George was a member of St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed photography, stamp collecting, was an avid chess player and jogger. He also enjoyed attending the Olympic Games having traveled to Seoul, Korea for the Summer Olympics.

Surviving are seven children: William Hausenbauer of Dunkirk, Christine Hausenbauer of Jamestown, Edmund Hausenbauer of Van Buren Bay, Joseph (Cathy) Alessi-Hausenbauer of Thousand Oaks, CA, Teresa Hausenbauer of Santa Monica, CA, Laura Vincent (Jim Peterson) of Jamestown, Robert Hausenbauer of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren: Sarah Alessi-Hausenbauer, Daniel Alessi-Hausenbauer, Thomas Alessi-Hausenbauer, James Vincent and Tessa Vincent.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes D. Geist Hausenbauer whom he married January 29, 1950, who died March 26, 2009; two sons: Gregory Hausenbauer in 2011, Leonard Hausenbauer in 2006 and a sister Joan Hausenbauer.

A private graveside service will be held in Lake View Cemetery. Rev. Darrell Duffy pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to the Douglas Vincent Scholarship Fund, c/o Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
