Obituary of Margaret H. Rathbun

Margaret Rathbun, 82 formerly from Falconer NY passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 in the Lutheran Home, Jamestown.

Margaret was the daughter of John and Helen Halloran. She grew up on a family farm in Great Valley NY. Margaret graduated from Ellicottville High in 1953. From there Margaret continued her education at Bryant and Stratton in Buffalo NY. After her graduation, she took her degree in bookkeeping and began working for a Chevrolet dealer in Salamanca NY. After having children, Mom stayed at home until her youngest son started elementary school. She then began working as a teacher's aide in the Frewsburg school district. In 1978 Margaret relocated to Winstead C.T. where she went to work as an office manager for Engineered Wire and Cable until she returned to Falconer. She then began working for the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce. When she retired from the Chamber of Commerce, she began working with the Foster Grand-Parent Program. This turned out to be her most enjoyable and gratifying time in her working career.

Margaret always enjoyed traveling, anything outdoors, her family's dogs, all sports, especially if her family was involved. She was a di-hard Bills, Sabre's, and Yankees fan.

She is survived by her sons John Rathbun of Rochester N.Y. Dana (Sandra) Rathbun of Summerville S.C. Grandchildren Sarah Petransky, Lorinda (Dustin) Truver, and William Petransky. Great grandchildren Sierra, Izaiah, Jared, Elise, Dylan, Nolan and Leah. Her nephews Tom and Dan Halloran, and sister in law Helen Halloran.

Besides her parents she is precede in death by her loving brother Joseph Halloran, and many aunts and uncles.

The family is holding a private ceremony for Margaret. Condolences can be made thru Falconer Funeral Home. Any memorials can be made to Foster Grandparents or a charity of their choice.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Hospice and Lutheran Jamestown Home for all the professional care given to our mother over the years.
