Obituary of George Short
George T. Short, 92, of Falconer passed away Friday (May 11, 2018) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born June 15, 1925 in Jamestown, the son of the late James H. and Florence Walker Short.
George was a graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre.
In earlier years he was a partner of J.E. Servis Plumbing, Inc., for 20 years. Prior to retirement he was employed by Southern Tier Mechanical and was a member of the Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters since 1947.
George was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed his family, the outdoors and cutting wood.
Surviving are six children: James C. Short of Kennedy, Gloria Anderson, John E. (Mary) Short all of Jamestown, Kay E. (Marcel) VanMorkhoven of Winter Haven, FL, Thomas L. Short of Falconer, Alan M. Short of Jamestown; 11 grandchildren: Christopher (Tina) Short, Brandon (Jessica) Short, Emily (Sean) Macey, Alyssa Anderson, Carolyn Short, Michael Short, Leasen (Jared) Limberg, Nicholas (Angela) Anderson, Angela Southwick, Rachael Short, George (Caity) Short;18 great grandchildren: Jacob, Chloe, Veronica Short, Jayde Short, Chase, Erik and Linnea Macey, Evelyn, Myra, Caroline and Andrew Limberg, Cole, Kate and Jaqueline Anderson, Carter Bastedo, Elliott Cerrie, Spencer Short and Cayden Collins
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice L. Benson Short whom he married August 26, 1950, who died October 22, 2013, a grandson Stephen L. Short; a daughter-in-law Cindy Short; a son-in-law Jeffrey Anderson; three brothers: James, Malcolm and Cecil Short; three sisters: Pauline Vendur, Rosalind Bird and Virginia Zindler.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service Monday in the funeral home.
