Obituary of Matilda Martinelli

Matilda M. "Tillie" Martinelli, 87, formerly of Arbutus Ave., Jamestown passed away Saturday (May 12, 2018) in the Lutheran Home.

A lifelong area resident she was born December 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Russo Stefanelli.

Tillie attended Jamestown High School and along with her husband Gig owned and operated Overhead Door Company of Jamestown.

She was a member of Moon Brook Country Club, Southern Tier Builders Association, St. John's Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish. Tillie enjoyed her family, homemaking, golfing, traveling and will be remembered for her gourmet cooking. She will be sadly missed by her family and her beagle Scampi.

Surviving is her daughter Suzanne Howard of Falconer; her son Stanley (Susan) Martinelli of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Suazanne Marie and husband Justin Pool of St. Petersburg, FL, Gian Martinelli of Orchard Park; a brother Frank Stefanelli of Jamestown; a sister: Mary Anne Holcomb of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carmine S. "Gig" Martinelli whom she married April 22, 1950 in St. John's Catholic Church, who died September 25, 2013; a brother Anthony Stefanelli; three sisters: Elizabeth DeMitto, Virginia Rizzo and Rosemary Bova.

The family understands that those living away may not be able to attend the memorial mass, and would like to thank them for their prayers and support in Tillies passing.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish. Rev. Dennis Mende pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will be celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the Memorial Mass in the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 1470 .
