Obituary of Halcyon Georgia Maloney

Halcyon Georgia Christoferson Maloney, 75, of Falconer passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, August 17, 2018 at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown following a lengthy illness.

Halcyon was born in Jamestown on June 26, 1943, to the late Ralph E. and Halcyon M. Bowen Christoferson.

She grew up in Greenhurst, NY and was a 1961 graduate of Bemus Point High School. In earlier years she worked for Enterprise Department Store in downtown Jamestown which led to her meeting her husband Rue. Halcyon had also worked at Ev-Lee's, Creative Corners and Chautauqua County Highway Employees Credit Union. For most of her life she was devoted to raising her family. Her family was her greatest joy.

Halcyon enjoyed camping having belonged to the Spotted Vagabonds Chapter of the Coachman Camping Club. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing and animals and was a member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband Rue G. Maloney whom she married February 14, 1964 in Fluvanna Community Church; three daughters: Kelly Maloney, Kim (Will) Avery and Terri (Joseph Jr.) Hirliman; three grandchildren: Shaquanda Nance, Brendan and Baylor Hirliman; three great grandchildren: Dontae Vasquez, Amaiya and Keysean Thomas; and twin brothers: Daniel (Jeanne) and David (Bonnie) Christoferson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received by the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Rev. Rebecca Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the Falconer Fire Department or Kennedy Fire Department.
