Obituary of George W. Edington Sr.

George W. Edington Sr.

George W. Edington Sr. 86, of 2009 East Main Street Falconer, passed away Sunday (February 24, 2019) in UPMC/Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.

He was born May 5, 1932 in Lakewood, NY the son of the late Frederick F. and Mary Jane Pangborn Edington Sr.

George attended Falconer High School and served his country in the Air Corps/Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to retirement he was employed by Falconer Plate Glass.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, fixing lawn mowers, spray painting cars, gardening and especially loved westerns and war movies with John Wayne.

George is survived by his wife Genevieve C. (Ferry) Edington of Falconer, whom he married 65 years ago on March 21, 1954 in Niagara Falls; two daughters: Cindy (John) Farris of Millersport, Ohio; Jeanne (Sergio) Ruiz of California; two sons: George W. Edington Jr. (Carrie) of Ellington, NY, Fred (Karen) Edington of Williston, Florida; grandchildren: Josh, Heather, Kelly, Danny, Chris, Leticia, George III, Melissa, Sarah, Amy, Tami, Jami, Stephanie, and Scott; great grandchildren: Abigail, Jacob, Sophia, John Henry, Ryleigh, Angel, Aylissa, Brooklyn, Peyton, Carson, Cooper, Kai, Mason, Jaxson, Colton, Trinitee, Hailey, Shawn, Avery, Eilaina, Tyler, Emily, Donavin, Alexis, Nathan and Sydney Textor, twins are being expected in the near future. A brother Thomas (Linda) Edington of Jamestown; a sister Pauline Schoning of Erie, PA; sister –in – law Dorothy Edington of Gowanda; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters: Charlotte M. Markham, Virginia, Ruby,

Esther; brothers: Fred, Robert, and James Edington.

The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Phelps will officiate the service.

Friends will be received by the family from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

 In Lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the family. Everyone is invited to a family gathering at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Falconer American Legion 132 West Main Street., Falconer, New York 14733.
