Obituary of Phillip M. Willsie
Phillip M. Willsie, 82, of Falconer passed away Monday (June 10, 2019) in UPMC Chautauqua.
He was born January 24, 1937 in Elkdale, NY the son of the late Sumner and Marjorie Remington Willsie.
Phillip grew up in southern Chautauqua-Cattaraugus County area and was a 1956 graduate of Frewsburg High School.
In earlier years he was employed by Erie Railroad, and he served in the US Army 69th Signal Corps in Europe. Prior to retirement Phillip was employed by Blackstone Corporation for 20 years and later retired from Valeo. After retirement he was employed by Coopers Sales and Superior of Jamestown.
Phillip enjoyed music, nature, hunting and playing his musical instruments. Phillip was gifted mechanic, machinist and enjoyed aviation. He enjoyed constructing model airplanes and belonged to the Falconer Model Airplane Club. Phillip constructed his own model engines and belonged to the Randolph Model Engine Club. Phillip attended Falconer First Baptist Church and loved old time country music, photography, HAM Radio and belonged to the HAM Radio Club. He enjoyed old church hymns and he taught himself to play the keyboard and guitar. Being part of nature and appreciating all that God made gave Phillip great joy. He spent many hours enjoying hiking, hunting, fishing and nature photography. Family and his grandchildren were the center of his life, and he knew that God’s gifts were to be cherished and protected.
Surviving are his wife Mary L. Smith Willsie whom he married in Ivory Baptist Church in 1962; four daughters: Karen (Jeffrey) Hummel of Falconer, Laurie Ann (John) Marucci of Jamestown, Bonnie Willsie of Jamestown, Kathleen (Heath) Morrison of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Meagan Hummel of South Carolina, Matthew Hummel of Falconer; three brothers: Paul Willsie of Randolph, John Willsie of Busti and Robert Willsie of Lousianna.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Faith Willsie and a brother Sumner Willsie Jr.
A Celebration of Life service for Phillip will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer First Baptist Church, 37 W. Falconer St., Falconer. Pastor Gordon Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday in the church.
