Obituary of Harold Carter
Harold Carter, 80, of Falconer passed away Wednesday (October 2, 2019) in his home.
A life-long area resident he was born November 13, 1938 in Jamestown, the son of the late Francis and Rose Blashaw Carter.
Harold attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1957 to 1959 in the 82nd Airborne. He had 26 jumps while serving in the airborne.
Prior to retirement he was employed by Carborundum-Monofrax for 45 years retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Southern Tier Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and had even rode in Alaska. Peewee had built a cabin in Canada and enjoyed camping. He also enjoyed woodworking and loved making furniture and wooden toys. He will be missed by his family and his dog, “Lady.” Peewee was proud of his children and step children.
Surviving are his wife Nancie D. Center Gross Carter, whom he married January 3, 1998; a son Todd (Lori) Carter of Kennedy; a daughter Tracy (Duane) VanEvery of North Carolina; two step-sons: Darell (Dawn) Gross of Sinclairville, Rusty (Tina) Gross of Cassadaga; three step daughters: Terri (David) Garbart of Frewsburg, Laurie Triscarri of Jamestown, Cindy (Alphee) Cassista of MA; eight grandchildren: Mitchell Carter, Baleigh Carter, Jordan (Amanda) Carter, Josh (Carrie) Carter, Kristen Carter, Katelyn Carter, Hillary Babcock, Joelyn Martin; several step grandchildren, three great grandchildren; step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother Jim Carter of Kennedy; a half-brother Paul (Jeanette) Mason of Frewsburg; two half-sisters Dorothy Anderson and Virginia Josephson both of Jamestown.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Troy Carter; his twin brother Gerald “Butch” Carter and a half-brother John Mason.
A celebration of life for the family will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Falcons Nest (Ross Grange), 2001 E. Main St., Falconer, NY. Inurnment will be in Levant Cemetery.
