Jerald E. “Jerry” Maloney, 83, of Kennedy passed away Thursday (October 24, 2019) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA, surrounded by his family.
A lifelong area resident he was born January 26, 1936 in Kennedy, the son of the late Clarence and Eleanor Huckelbery Maloney.
Jerry attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1958 to 1960. In earlier years he was employed by Chautauqua Hardware and prior to retirement he was employed by the Town of Poland Highway Department as Highway Superintendent. After retirement Jerry was employed by Chautauqua Highway Department and Suite Kote Corp.
He was a member of the Randolph Post 181, American Legion, life time member of the Ellington Rod & Gun Club and in earlier years had served as 4-H Leader primarily horse project area. He enjoyed racing pony’s at Cockaigne.
Jerry also enjoyed his family, helping anyone with carpentry work and constructing doll houses. Recently Jerry enjoyed traveling across the United State with his grandson and seeing his son in Arizona.
Surviving are two children: Lori (Jeffrey) Miller of Kennedy, Lee (Sharon)Maloney of Teoria, AZ; four grandchildren: Ron Miller, Rosalyn (Jon) Olivares, Tyler Tellinghuisen, RaeLynn Tellinghuisen; six great grandchildren: AJ, Lilly, Nolan, Cal, Lux, Balin; three brothers: Clark (Marilyn) Maloney of Corning, NY, Rue Maloney of Falconer and Gene (Sally) Maloney of Mathews, SC.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Diane L. Beebe Maloney whom he married June 29, 1957, who died April 17, 2006; three brothers: Richard, Rodney and Donald Maloney, and his step mother Wilma Maloney.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date. Inurnment will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
