Lois J. Chapman, 87, formerly of Kennedy passed away Thursday (November 14, 2019) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry.
A lifelong area resident she was born September 4, 1932 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Elton and Katherine Deming Butts.
Lois was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed by Falconer Central School, Malleable Iron and Kennedy Grill. Prior to retirement she was employed by Abers Acres in Kennedy.
She was a member of the Randolph and Falconer Women of the Moose, and Chautauqua County Board of Elections. She was a life member of the Kennedy Fire Department Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed her family, picking strawberries at Abers Acres, knitting, sewing and bowling.
Surviving are five children: Barbara (Robert) Sauer of Falconer, Wayne (Brenda) Chapman of Kennedy, Gloria Waite of Chambersburg, PA, Rhonda (Richard) Morrison of Falconer, Sherwood (Patty) Chapman of Kennedy; a son-in-law Charles McCandles of Daytona Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren: James (Yukiko) Burdic Jr., Tricia (Arthur) Wolfe, Michelle (Donald) Chaffin, Tonya (Patrick) Smith, Matthew Chapman, Heather (Patrick) Smallman, Jennifer (Jason) Lincoln, Todd (Katie) Morrison, Paul Overturf, Crystal (Kelly) Smith, Melissa (David) Kuhns, Christina Paris; 4 step grandchildren: Linda Boutelle, Wendy Giddy, Julie Norton, Laura Waite; 32 great grandchildren and a sister June Locke of Lakewood.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred M. Chapman, whom she married September 2, 1950, who died December 9, 1993 and a daughter Cynthia McCandless on June 13, 2013.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday the Falconer Funeral Home. Pastor Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be donated to the Kennedy Fire Department or Chautauqua County Humane Society.
