Obituary of June L. Town
June L. Town, 96, of Clarks Corners, joined her husband and son in Heaven on December 12, 2019. She was born June 12, 1923 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Isabell Crandall Evans. At the age of fourteen, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She lived the rest of her life for His glory, becoming the face of Jesus to everyone she met.
June was a 1942 graduate of Celoron High School and in earlier years had been employed by Betty Dixon Candies of Jamestown. She was a longtime member of the Clarks Corners Community Church where she taught Sunday School for forty-eight years and served on the Board of Trustees for over forty. She was a member of the Poland Senior Citizens, a seventy-one year member of the Kennedy Grange and a 4-H leader in Clarks Corners for twenty-three years. June enjoyed time with family, writing poetry, cooking, baking and floral arranging. She took great pride in choosing her outfits each day, always finding the perfect brooch to compliment it. She was known for the way she loved - with open arms and a beautiful smile that made everyone feel like family.
Surviving are her daughter and best friend, Linda J. (Jerry) Ward of Orchard Park, NY; her “daughter” Carolyn Laun of Sachse, TX; five grandchildren: Christina (Rick) Bancroft of Fairport, NY; Heidi (J.L.) Miller of Houghton, NY; Mark (Megan) Town of New Hall, CA; Julie (Bryan) Jennings of Humble, TX; Deanna (Jeremy) Civello of Rowlett, TX; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Elijah and Owen Bancroft; Silas, Sadie, Corinna and Lawson Miller; Miranda and Ian Town; John, Alyssa and Luke Jennings and Emma and Olivia Civello.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lester, who died February 23, 2015; her beloved son, Bruce, who died February 28, 2017 and sisters Margaret Ellis and Lillian Palmer.
The funeral will be held at Clarks Corners Church on the 17th of December at 11 AM. Rev. Walter Venman, Pastor of Clarks Corners Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners. The family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM on Monday, December 16th at Falconer Funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday in the church.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at Seneca Health Care Center where June was residing when she passed. The compassion and understanding that was provided to both June and the family through the Journey’s End program will never be forgotten.
