Donald Frederick Olson, 87, a resident of Chautauqua County, NY passed away on Thursday, December 12th, 2019. He was born in Sandy Lake, PA on January 28, 1932, son to Frederick Olson and Mona H. Olson (Gordon) of Stoneboro, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife Rev. Bessie Hazel (Poole) Olson of 65 years, his son, Larry D. Olson (Marion) and son-in-law Wade Nolan (Hazel).
Donald grew up working on the family farm. When he was invited to play minor league baseball, he declined so that he could help with the farm and have more time with family. Later, he worked as a machinist for Cooper-Bessimer, then Joy Manufacturing and lastly MRC/SKF.
One of Donald’s favorite things to do was singing the old gospel songs in church. He was a member of the Church of God in Stoneboro, PA and later the Church of God in Lakeview, PA. In 1979, his wife answered the call to minister to the Ross Mills Church of God in Falconer, NY. Many recognize a calling for a pastor but don’t consider that the spouse is called as well. Donald happily answered that call, supporting his wife’s ministry. He loved going to the National COG Camp Meeting in Anderson, IN and the regional camp meeting at Whitehall Camp in Emlenton, PA. He loved playing baseball and later softball even into his 60’s, hitting many a home run. He enjoyed hunting for the peace and serenity of the woods. He supported his favorite team the Buffalo Bills. He was a “cookie monster” and an “ice cream hound”! Most of all, he was a good man; kind, gentle, with a generous soul, living honestly by his faith, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Ross Mills Church, 3843 E. Ross Mills Rd., Falconer, NY. Donald’s sons: Rev. David Olson and Rev. Aaron Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake, PA.
