Obituary of Curtis B. Brown

Curtis B. Brown, 84, of Kennedy passed away Friday (February 14, 2020) in his home. A life long area resident he was born March 22, 1935 in Randolph, the son of the late Harold and Violet Walters Brown. He was a graduate of Randolph High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956 in Okinawa, Japan. Prior to retirement Curtis was employed by Monofrax-Carborundum retiring in 1994. Curtis was a member of the Falconer First Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon and Trustee. He was also a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556, American Legion and past member of the NYS Grange and Falconer Kiwanis Club. In earlier years Curtis enjoyed track and field sports. He also enjoyed deer hunting, producing maple syrup, berry picking, cooking and will be remembered for his pancakes and macaroni salad. Surviving are his wife Leslie Waddington Brown whom he married July 20, 1996; two children: Vicki (John) Kotlar of Kennedy, Kent R. (Diana) Lawrence-Brown of Kennedy; a step daughter Amy (Jeff) Fitzpatrick of Falconer; four grandchildren: Andrea (Floyd) Austin, Cammie (Kevin) White, Brett Gray, Abe (Marissa) Ruper; two step grandchildren: Ryan Adams, Matt Adams; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Ralph Brown of Randolph, Maurice Brown of Ellington; two sisters: Nancy (Warren) Burnside of Attica, NY, Mary Rublee of Corry, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Janice Marie Ericsson Brown whom he married March 22, 1956, who died August 16, 1994; an infant son Scott Brown and two sisters: Joyce Bohall and Janice Miesel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Pastor Gordon Robbins of Falconer First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
