Obituary of Lawana L. Digirolamo
Lawana L. Digirolamo Lawana L. (VanName) Digirolamo, 72, of Jamestown passed away Tuesday (March 10, 2020) in the Lutheran. She was born August 16, 1947 in Cuba, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Bernice (Claflin) VanName. Lawana was a 1965 graduate of Rushford Central School. Upon graduation, she attended Jamestown Business College. In earlier years she was employed by Blackstone Corporation, Welch’s Food, Inc., of Westfield, and the former Bon-Ton Department Store. Prior to retirement, Lawana served as the church secretary at Bethel Lutheran Church in Jamestown. Lawana was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post 93, American Legion Auxiliary, served on her Rushford High School Reunion Committee and was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. Lawana was devoted to her cats, which brought her great joy to care for. Her family was central to her life, and she was blessed by many dear friends. She enjoyed gardening and serving as a judge for Grow Jamestown. During retirement Lawana enjoyed working at the Secret Garden Florist. Lawana also served as a caregiver to several elderly persons. Surviving are her sister Nancy (Ralph) Wilde of Rushford, NY; her niece Rosemary (John) Luciano of Hingham, MA; grandniece and grandnephew: Sophia and Joseph Luciano; daughter-in-law Rosie Digirolamo of Jamestown; granddaughters: Ashley Digirolamo of Jamestown, Amber (Matt) Littlefield of Jamestown and great granddaughter Madilyn Littlefield. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Victor C. Digirolamo whom she married July 11, 1981 in Rushford, NY, and died February 2, 2009 and in addition a niece, Sarah Wilde. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, in the Bethel Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Pastor Rob Allport-Cohoon will officiate. Burial will be in White Cemetery, Rushford, NY. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Falconer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701 or to Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 West Third Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
