Obituary of Johnny Ray Tooley

Johnny Ray Tooley, 67, of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Sunday (May 10, 2020) in his home and went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born October 20, 1952 in Dunkirk, NY, the son of the late Carlus H. and Camilla D. Allen Tooley. Johnny was a graduate of Silver Creek High School and SUNY Fredonia graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was currently employed by the Resource Center as Day Service Supervisor. Johnny worked for over 20 years with the traumatic brain injury program helping people express themselves through art. He was instrumental in working with NASA to develop an exercise program geared toward adults with disabilities called, “Train Like an Astronaut.” He inspired creativity and a love for painting in each day program he worked with. Johnny loved to help people express themselves through art by painting landscapes. He was a certified trainer with the Alzheimer’s Association and helped many better understand how to help others suffering from dementia. He was a fourth degree black belt in karate and had operated a martial arts school in Silver Creek. Johnny enjoyed helping others and was instrumental in restoring the fountain in the Village of Fredonia Park Square. He also enjoyed music. Johnny was a self taught guitar player as a youth and started a band in his teens called, “The Children of Fire.” He taught many how to play the guitar and shared his talents at all the family gatherings, with his brother Ken and son Jeremy, and at church. Surviving are his wife Randee S. Barnes-Tooley whom he married November 24, 2001; five children: Jeremy (Kimberly) Tooley of Wimberly, TX, Fawn Tooley (Jason Aguglia) of Forestville, Steth (Brianne) Orlando of Durham, NC, Lindsay (Tim) Lindsey of Warren, PA, Michael (Andrea) Tooley of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Tareek Hannold, Chakena Hannold, Deacon Congdon, Micah Tooley, Ryland Tooley, Caleb Tooley, Logan Lindsey, Emma Lindsey and one granddaughter on the way; three great grandchildren: Taylyn, Aries and Onyx; three brothers: Harold “Wayne” (Dorothea) Tooley, Claude “Randy” (Jackie) Tooley all of Forestville, Kenneth (Katherine) Tooley of Fredonia; two sisters: Michelle (James) Burau of Silver Creek and Jane (Kenneth) Thomas of Cherry Creek, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents Carlus and Camilla Tooley. A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at a later date.
