Harry Wayne Wakefield, 76, of Ashville passed away Thursday (August 27, 2020) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 8, 1944 in Jamestown, the son of the late Richard L. and Iva Belle Foulk Wakefield.
Harry attended Falconer High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1970 aboard the USS Enterprise. Prior to retirement he was employed by Cummins Engine retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion and the LLMA Club. Harry played baseball when he was younger. He was happy and told funny stories about himself. He joked around with people, and was loved by most people. Harry enjoyed bowling and playing golf, and hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his companion Frances E. Engstrom; a daughter Stacy (Harry) Ivaire of Colorado; a son Steven (Jenelle) Wakefield of Grand Rapids, MI; five grandchildren; a sister Norma Jean Norris of Ashville and a brother Richard “Dick” (Barbara) Wakefield of Lawrenceburg, KY.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Scott Wayne Wakefield.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday (October 10, 2020) at 11:00 a.m. in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
