Obituary of Rodney L. Lindquist

Rodney L. Lindquist, 85, formerly of Greenhurst Village, Jamestown passed away Friday (August 28, 2020) in the home of his daughter surrounded by his family. A lifelong area resident he was born October 24, 1934 in Falconer, the son of the late C. Kenneth and Eva A. Cobb Lindquist. Rodney was a graduate of Falconer High School and attended Utica College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1953 to 1955. In earlier years he was employed by Sterlingworth, and prior to retirement in 1994 he was employed by Maddox Table. He was a member of the Ingjald Lodge Vasa Order of Vikings having served as Chief in 1977, and other offices. Rodney coached Little League Baseball for the Vikings and served on the Greenhurst Village Advisory Board. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending his grandchildren’s events. Rodney also enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling reading and puzzle books. Surviving are five children: Stephen Lindquist (Mary Jo Bradish) of W.E. Jamestown, Kathy Hedstrand of Jamestown, Karen (Brian) Watson of Gerry, Scott (Mary) Lindquist of Dallas, TX, Marcia Klepfer of Buffalo; nine grandchildren: Lisa Brandon, Daniel (Leanna) Watson, Kailyn (Gary) Aloisio, Jessica (Shaun) Nelson, Andrew (Molly) Lindquist, Kevin Watson, Joshua (Paulina) Lindquist, Jordyn Lindquist, Madeline Klepfer; eight great grandchildren: Zara, Miles, Avery, Oliver, Benjamin, Abner, Rydan, Cora and a sister Nancy Lindquist. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jean Anderson Lindquist whom he married Sept. 8, 1956, who died August 13, 2010; an infant sister Patricia Lindquist and a brother Charles Lindquist. A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Phelps chaplain of Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
