Obituary of Lowell A. Stimson

Lowell A. Stimson, 77, of Jamestown passed away Saturday (March 6, 2021) in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born April 23, 1943 in Jamestown, the son of the late Wilfred “Steve” and Lagressa Harrington Stimson. Lowell attended Falconer Central High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1960 to 1963. In earlier years he was employed by Dahlstrom Manufacturing and Reliance in Jamestown. Prior to retirement in 2008 he was employed by Alliance Carolina in Fletcher, NC as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served on the church council and usher. While living in North Carolina Lowell was a member of the Lutheran Church of Nativity, Arden, NC and served as church usher. Lowell was a trustee of the Levant Cemetery Association. Lowell adored his two granddaughters Sierra and Ariel and spending time with his family. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, birdwatching, gardening and line dancing. Lowell was an exceptional painter and crafter. Most recently he enjoyed working with stain glass. During retirement Lowell along with his wife Pat owned and operated Stimson Daylilies. Always wondering how he can help others and finding the way to bring enjoyment to others lives. The doughnut man of Jamestown delivering a smile with every doughnut. Surviving is his wife Patricia J. Ohls Stimson whom he married July 3, 1965 in Falconer; a son Todd M. (Kerry) Stimson of Jamestown; two granddaughters: Sierra Stimson and Ariel Stimson both of Fletcher, NC; a sister Sandra Tompsett of Falconer; two brothers: Brian (Irene) Stimson of Falconer, Jerry (Ruth) Stimson of Kennedy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Randall A. Stimson on May 27, 1995 and is father-in-law and mother-in-law; Walter and Mary Ohls. The Stimson family would like to thank All family and friends for the support and prayers. Especially the nurses and caregivers of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care for the care Lowell received during the final days. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery. Friends will be received by the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Due to CDC and NYS Covid 19 regulations face masks will be required and social distancing observed for the funeral service and visitation.
