Annette M. Nowicki, 78, formerly of Jamestown, currently a resident of Bergquist Assisted Living, passed away Friday (March 26, 2021) at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry, NY.
She was born October 3, 1942, in Buffalo, NY, first daughter of the late Thaddeus A. and Melanie J. Poch Zwolinski.
Annette was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School with concentrations in Home Economics and Business. She was a wife, mother and home maker, and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all of her extended family. She worked at many jobs throughout her life in the banking industry, from teller to loan officer. Later in life, she worked for the American Heart Association, in Warren, PA.
She was a devout Roman Catholic parishioner. She faithfully attended St. James RC Church in Jamestown, NY, and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Warren, PA. She thoroughly enjoyed singing in their church choirs.
Surviving Annette are her loving children, a son, Commander, U.S. Navy (Ret.) Mark T. (Jessica) Nowicki of Cheshire, CT; two daughters, Gail J. (Jack) Rensel of Jamestown, and Lori LN Elle (Larry Williams) of Falconer; seven grandchildren: Savannah Nowicki, Avery Nowicki, Kyle (Kaitlin) Rensel, Lindsey Rensel (Jordan Goold), Alicia Rensel, Ashley (TJ) Williamson, Jessica (Travis) Dickerson; five great grandchildren: Weston Dwaileebe, Maci Williamson, TJ Williamson, Jr., Ethan Dickerson, Paislee Dickerson; two sisters, Linda (David) Wojcik, Joyce (William) McGraw, and a brother, Gary (Denise) Zwolinski; brother-in-law Thomas (Diane) Nowicki, sister-in-law Rita Nowicki; and several nieces, nephews, Godchildren and cousins.
Annette was loved and respected by her family and friends. She set a kind and friendly example in life. She was affectionately known as “Nettcha” to her mother and siblings, and “Mimi” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy with host Alex Trebek, and she was good at both! She was known as the family “secretary” in keeping dates and functions annually, and spoke with her family on a regular basis, keeping everyone up to date. She lived by her calendar.
Mom was ‘First Our Mother and Forever Our Friend’, and we will miss her dearly.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by James M. Nowicki, her husband of 58 years, who passed away on October 3, 2020; many beloved aunts and uncles; and her cherished puppy’s Maggie Smith and Ginger Lee. We rejoice in knowing that she is now finally reunited with those she deeply loved.
A private memorial graveside celebration will be held at the convenience of the family in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery this summer. Visitation will not be observed.
Memorial contributions may be donated to St. James RC Church or Heritage Village Ministries.
