Obituary of Gus Parkhurst, Jr.

Philo A. “Gus” Parkhurst Jr., 72, of Conewango Valley passed away Monday (August 30, 2021) in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born January 21, 1949 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Philo A. and Josephine Salantino Parkhurst Sr. Gus was a graduate of Hamburg High School and Jamestown Community College. Prior to retirement he was employed at Monofrax-Carborundum for 36 years retiring in 2011. While employed he served as the Union Steward. In earlier years he served as Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America. Gus enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, playing board games and the on-line computer game Risk, gardening and his tomato plants. He also was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. Surviving are his wife Edith L. “Edie” Errington Parkhurst whom he married November 29, 1969 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Eden, NY; five children: Lalena Parkhurst (Dr. Sandi Nenga) of Georgetown, TX, Brady (Abra) Parkhurst of Scottsdale, AZ, Todd (Samantha) Parkhurst of Ellington, Rachel (Ryan) TenPas of Gerry, Laurel Parkhurst Mijares (Luis Mijares) of Austin, TX; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers: Dennis Parkhurst of Westfield, Timothy Parkhurst of Randolph, Tom Parkhurst of Portugal and a sister Sharon Parkhurst of Arizona. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Evan Parkhurst in 2015. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Joseph Jananczek pastor of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church will officiate. Friends will be received by the family from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
