He was born July 3, 1947 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Oliver and Lillian Waith Strickland. Tim was a 1965 graduate of Falconer Central School. His great joy during that time was driving around in a 1957 Chevy. After graduation, Tim enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corps. Serving four years active duty and two years in the Reserves. He spent 13 months in Vietnam and spoke very little about his time there even though he was awarded two Purple Hearts and several other distinctions. He also achieved the rank of Sargent E-5. Beginning in 1970 he became a Glazier employed by Falconer Plate Glass until its closing. He also served as a part-time police officer for the Village of Falconer. Prior to retirement he was employed by Heritage Village in the maintenance department. Tim was an active member of the Falconer Fire Department and the Exempts. He was a member of the War Vets, Vikings and Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion. Tim had a great zest for life in his past time he and Gloria traveled to numerous NASCAR races. He enjoyed playing in various softball, bowling and golf leagues. Most of all refinishing a 1968 purple Road Runner was a great enjoyment and accomplishment. Some of the highlights in Tim’s life was attending his grandson Aaron’s shooting events and the joy he got from being a part of Lillian’s and Landan’s lives. Tim took great pride in the fact that Nicholas followed in his footsteps by playing trumpet and their mutual interest in golf and WWE wrestling. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Gloria Strickland whom he married November 6, 1969 in Ross Mills; two daughters: Lisa (Chris) Dieter, Barb (Andy) Piazza; two grandsons Aaron Johnson and Nicholas Kirby; two great grandchildren: Lillian and Landan Johnson; his brother Ernest (Heidi) Strickland and a brother-in-law Richard (Donna) Wetsel.
