Obituary of Autumn M Swanson

Autumn Mae Swanson, 96, of Jamestown passed away Friday (December 31, 2021) in UPMC Chautauqua. She was born December 12, 1925 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Rufus C. Strang and Helen (Carlson) Strang. She was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1946 graduate of WCA Hospital School of Nursing. Autumn’s work history included working for Dr. George F. Caccamise for 19 years. She said, “Working with the doctor and patients was like a big loving family.” She was also employed for 19 years for Dr. John D. Voltman. Non-working years were spent as a nurse on Fridays for vacations and sick time for Doctors Dickson, Ellis, Sundholm, McCulla and Caccamise. She was confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer where she was a choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was married in Bethlehem Lutheran Church to Roy V. Swanson, the love of her life, on March 12, 1955; a bright sunny day with tulips and daffodils in bloom! Autumn is survived by her son, Philip C. Swanson, son-in-law, Michael Reinecke, granddaughter Melissa Ramsey and grandson-in-law Jeff Ramsey, and granddaughter Michelle Reinecke. Also surviving are two great granddaughters: Veronica and Viviana Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her father Rufus Strang on July 23, 1981, her mother Helen Strang on February 23, 1992, her husband Roy V. Swanson on June 24, 2016, her daughter Rebecca Reinecke on November 29, 2018 and her sister Louise A. Strang on March 12, 1997. A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Todd Wentworth of Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorial contributions may be donated to: Wounded Warriors Foundation, IFCJ (International Fellowship of Christians and Jews), or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
