Obituary of Glen H. Dickerson Jr.

Glen H. Dickerson Jr., 90, of Falconer passed away Wednesday (February 2, 2022) in UPMC Chautauqua with his family by his side. A lifelong area resident he was born February 16, 1931, the son of the late Glen H. and Alice Gilbert Dickerson Sr. Glen was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to retirement he was employed by MRC-SKF and served as the Village of Falconer Code Enforcement Officer for 10 years. He was a member of the Falconer Fire Department for over 50 years and served as Fire Chief for 25 years. Glen was a member of the 3rd Century Club of The American Red Cross for blood donation. In earlier years he served as Babe Ruth Baseball Coach, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop Leader. He enjoyed collecting: hot wheels, trains, saws and guns. Glen was an avid gardener and enjoyed roller skating, bowling and attending car and train shows. He was always willing to lend a hand for family and friends with home projects and was an all-around handy man. Surviving are his three children: Glen H. (Susan) Dickerson III of Falconer, Debbie (Gary) Yahn of Frewsburg, Jodie Dickerson of Falconer; daughter-in-law Lisa Dickerson of Falconer; 10 grandchildren: Travis (Jessica) Dickerson, Amanda (Robert) Parks, Glen A. (Amber) Dickerson, Heather Yahn, Holly (Nick) McBride, Missy (Xavier) Tores, Erik (Jenny) Alicea, Nick Lamer, Nate Lamer, Noah Dickerson; 14 great grandchildren: Ethan Dickerson, Brayden Parks, Elianah Jones-Yahn, Kaleb McBride, MaKenna McBride, Delaunte Taylor, Tristen Parsons, Karinah Walker, Karighan Alicea, Kaldynce Alecia, Paislee Dickerson, Savannah Parks, Owen Dickerson and Olivia Dickerson; two brothers: Curtis (Sandy) Dickerson of Jamestown, Robert Dickerson of California and a sister Gail Colburn of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his wife Hellen Maddox Dickerson whom he married July 29, 1951 in Westfield, who died July 5, 2021; his son Kelly D. Dickerson on September 23, 2021; two grandchildren: Richie Alicea and Andre Dennis Dickerson. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Hinman pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer. Friends will be received by the family from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Falconer Fire Department, 115 Davis St., Falconer, NY 14733.
