Obituary of Donald R. Smith
Donald R. Smith, 81, of Jamestown passed away Sunday (March 6, 2022) in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Don had been a resident at Heritage Park since 2012 and will be missed by all the staff and friends at the nursing home who he considered family. A lifelong area resident he was born February 16, 1941 in Jamestown, the son of the late William C. and Harriett Smith. Don was a graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by Jamestown Plywood for 33 years. Prior to retirement he was employed by Bush Industries. Don enjoyed being outdoors, watching the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers. He also enjoyed building model airplanes. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball, football, running track and bowling. Surviving is his wife Isabelle Higley Smith whom he married June 27, 1981 in Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Bragg Jr. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Home Great Room, 150 Prather Ave, Jamestown. Those attending are encouraged to wear Buffalo Bill attire in honor of Don. (Also, those attending should plan on arriving by 1:30 p.m. to have a rapid Covid test required by NYS DOH and Heritage Park. Face masks will be required.) Rev.
