Annette Polizzi

Obituary of Annette M. Polizzi

Annette M. Polizzi, age 91, formerly of 25 Gwendolin Avenue, Jamestown, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 in the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center where she had resided since October 2017. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born January 12, 1931, the youngest and fourth child of the late Anthony and Marie Piazza Cimino. She was the wife of Russell S. Polizzi who she married June 12, 1954, and died October 14, 2019 in the Lutheran home. Ann attended Jamestown public schools and later was employed by the school system in food service. A true homemaker in every sense, she became the “go to” person for cooking advice and for real Italian meals. Raised from a family of truly kind hearts, she would stop everything, even her own family’s time, to bring meals or to give really anything to those that were ill, hospitalized, or needed something. Once in her home, one had to have a meal that she was ready to give and you could not say no. She just gave. This never ceased. She had a strong faith and was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church singing in the choir. Annette influenced many along her way with her love and kindness. Grown adults that were once school children sought her out years later to find and visit the cafeteria lady that gave them money, support, or love in a way that they never had and they repaid her with their thanks. She would strongly teach to her own sons the power of kindness, respect for others, and to exceed. It went beyond just proper manners. Ann was a strong, tough woman that often-denied pain and refused to complain much. Diagnosed with a terrible cancer in the early 1980s, she refused to accept five years life expectancy. Instead, she moved forward and calls came to the house on the advice from local hospitals and Roswell Park in Buffalo, NY from individuals to speak with her on her advice for coping strategies and comfort for their own cancers. She became this advocate, that to her, was just her being nice. After retirement, she loved her travels to Hawaii, Las Vegas, West Virginia, and Florida where she would see her son and grandchildren. Despite having Parkinson’s, she still made it to family reunions as long as she was able. Up to 86 years old, together with her husband Russ, she still enjoyed road trips on a regular basis to Canada, Western NY, and Erie, PA to visit her son. She loved talking to people. Her phone was another arm for her. Overall, this sweet woman loved cooking, coffee, and cold cuts! She will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever thanked. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Michael Cimino and Joseph Cimino. Surviving are her two sons: Russell M. Polizzi (Nancy) of Erie, PA and Anthony V. Polizzi (Donna) of Florida; grandchildren: Brittany Fisher (Xavier) and Russell A. Polizzi both of Georgia; two great grandchildren: Lillian L. Fisher and Isiah Fisher also of Georgia. Annette’s sister also survives her: Elizabeth Russo of Tonawanda, NY; a sister-in-law Josephine Campbell of Falconer. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to Linda Carson of Lutheran. Linda’s love, kindness, work ethic and faith was like our mothers. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family strongly advises mask wearing during calling hours as there will be individuals present with immune compromised health.
