Dennis W. Phillips, 71, of Jamestown, unexpectedly joined our Heavenly family on Thursday (April 21, 2022). He was born February 22, 1951 in Jamestown, the son of the late Arthur Phillips and Ellen Phillips Johnson. Denny attended many schools throughout the area including Falconer Central and Jamestown Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Maine Corps having served in the Vietnam War and later as drill sergeant. Prior to retirement he was employed by Cummins Engine and Regal Services. Denny was a member of the Vikings Lodge and played in golf leagues at Chautauqua, South Hills and Cable Hollow. he loved all animals and co-owned Celebrities Cattery with his wife Sheri. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races with his family. He also shared a love of the Miami Dolphins with his son-in-law. Denny was a kind hearted and gentle soul who made friends easily wherever he went. Surviving are his wife Sheri Lynne Carlson Phillips; a daughter April (Dale) Justice, NC, Brian (Shannon) Phillips, NC; a step daughter Kris (Brad) Stimson; nine grandchildren: Nathan and Ryan Stimson of Falconer, Garrett Justice (Meghan), NC, Cameron Justice, NC, Abbey Justice, NC, Ian Phillips, NC, Asher Phillips, NC, Temperance Phillips, NC, Ellie Caroline Phillips, NC; two brothers: Randy (Nancy) Phillips, Hickory, NC, Donny Philips, Jamestown, and sister Lou Ann (Tom) Coughlin of Jamestown, brother and sister in laws Craig and Charlotte Carlson of MI and Alan and Vesna Carlson of Jamestown; many nieces and nephews, including Heather (Doug) Buffone, Heidi (Joe) Jeziorski, Jason (Torie) Carlson, Michelle Carlson who he especially enjoyed spending time with. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allan and Gloria Carlson; sisters Linda (Don) Schwanke, Cheryl (Gary) Dean, Kathleen (Charles) Baron. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family and a Celebration of Life is being planned for later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family askes that memorials be donated to the Almost Home Animal Sanctuary or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
