Obituary of Glenn R. Marsh

Kennedy Glenn R. Shorty Marsh, 83, of 2410 Marsh Road, died at 1:38 A.M. Saturday (December 23, 2006) in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born September 26, 1923 in the Town of Poland the son of Hiram and Elizabeth Ellis Marsh. Shorty was employed in earlier years by the Sterlingworth Corp, and later by Jamestown Steel Partitions which became Dowcraft Corp for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid walker, wood worker, who enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs. Surviving are two sons: Glenn R. (Bonnie) Marsh, Jr. of Gerry, Joseph Marsh of Kennedy, three daughters; Charie (Robert) Kanouff of Falconer, Charmaine (Bradley) Mighells of Randolph, Caroleen (Scott) Peterson of Jamestown, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his close companion Nita Karr of Falconer. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy F. Williamson Marsh whom he married September 30, 1944 in Leon, NY, who died May 2, 1985, a daughter Charleen Anderson in 1991, four sisters; Helen Brown, Mildred Steinhoff, Mary Swanson, and Doris Johnson, and six brothers; Lawrence, Lee, Otis, William, Myron and Ellis Marsh. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy D. Phelps chaplain of Hospice of Chautauqua will officiate. Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Chautauqua County, 4840 West Lake Rd., Mayville, NY 14757, Lakewood Family YMCA, Senior Walk, 183 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750 or to a charity of ones choice.
